Software for Dutch mental health care (GGZ)

Not taking over care, but taking care.

From draft report to an overview per client: sessions and recorded information stay together. You assess, weigh up and decide.

  • Processed and stored in the Netherlands
  • No audio storage
  • Clinical modules in MDR certification (class IIa)
  • Academically validated and validated in practice at the first mental health organisations
  • Scientifically anchored at LIACS, Leiden University
  • Research into the quality of draft reports since October 2026

01In practice

Where the record falls short.

Notal Care is developed and evaluated in the daily practice of In-Dividu, an independent mental health organisation. Praktijk Rood provides an additional practice setting for youth and adult care.

02How it works

From session to overview.

  1. You hold the session

With the client's consent, the audio is converted to text and not stored.

  2. You receive a draft report

In your organisation's format, short or detailed.

  3. You read, edit and approve

Nothing enters the record without your approval.

  4. The record grows with the treatment

Reports, diagnostics and case formulation stay linked per client, in the format you choose.

A recording of a fictional session is in progress. The recording time and status are shown at the top; on the left the live transcript appears while the clinician and the client talk. The audio is not stored.

03Lead practitioners

An overview for whoever is in charge.

As a lead practitioner (regiebehandelaar) you are responsible for courses of treatment you do not always deliver yourself. For each client, Notal Care shows which phase the treatment is in, when it was last evaluated and what colleagues have recorded.

04Boundaries

What Notal Care does not do.

  • Notal Care does not make diagnoses or give treatment advice.

  • Notal Care puts nothing in the record without your approval.

  • Functions that support clinical judgement will only be offered after certification as a medical device (class IIa, expected Q3 2027).

  • Your data is not used to train models.

  • Scientifically anchoredAnchored at LIACS (Leiden University) through Dr Niki van Stein, who researches automated machine learning and (Bayesian) optimisation.
  • ValidatedOur research method has been validated by LIACS. Notal Care has been validated in practice at the first mental health organisations using it.
  • Follow-up researchSince October 2026 we have been researching the quality of draft reports for Dutch mental health sessions.

09Questions

Frequently asked questions.

We already use speech-driven reporting. What does Notal Care add?

Notal Care also produces a report per session, but in addition keeps each client's course of treatment together: record building per phase, case formulation, evaluations and the lead practitioner overview. Whether it fits alongside or instead of your current tool is something we discuss in the demo.

Is Notal Care a medical device?

Partly. The core for documentation and record building is not. The clinical modules are being certified as a class IIa medical device; they will become available after CE marking, expected in the third quarter of 2027.

Is Notal Care scientifically validated?

Yes. Notal Care is academically validated and scientifically anchored at LIACS (Leiden University), where our research method was also validated. The product has been validated in practice at the first mental health organisations using it. Follow-up research has been running since October 2026; we publish the results on our science page.

Is the session stored?

The audio is not. The transcript is.

What does a pilot look like?

One team, 4 weeks, with agreed measures: use in the workflow, report quality, correction effort, perceived workload and attention in the session. You then decide whether to scale up.
